If you love anything fantasy, from anime to comic books to cosplay, you will want to check out the Range FanCon coming up in July.

It started a few years ago at the Virginia Public Library, but has grown and grown to include so many things.

That’s why they changed the name to FanCon.

“This is a great way to say, people are here who are interested in things you’re interested in. Let’s build a community around this, and boost each other,” shared Stephanie Wichlacz, a FanCon committee member.

Another member, Richelle Cole, added, “We wanted it to be more inclusive. So if you’re a fan of anything, just show up.”

With help from Revive Virginia, Lyric Center for the Arts, and the Iron Range Tourism Bureau, they are looking to grow the event even bigger than the 200 people from last year.

Ceasar Ortega, marketing coordinator for IRTB, added, “Personally, I love having this in my hometown. It’s my culture, what I like to do. So this is exciting.”

It’s Saturday, July 22nd, at the Mt. Iron Community Center, from 10am-6pm. They are still looking for vendors.
