Names released in fatal motorcycle accident Wednesday night

Update: 47 year old Justin Eller from Esko was the motorcyclist who died in the crash and 51 year old Nicholas Berglund from Bruno, MN received minor injuries while driving his car.

A motorcyclist lost his life Wednesday evening after his motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of County Road 61 and County Road 4 in Mahtowa Township.

The Carlton County Sheriff’s office responded to a call of that crash at 9:10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13th.

Officials say an adult male was driving a car turning south onto County Road 61 from County Road 4 when the motorcyclist traveling north on County Road 61 struck the car.

The adult in the car sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene by EMS.

The adult driving the motorcycle was killed at the scene.

Police say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Deputies responded along with members of the Essentia Moose Lake EMS, Mahtowa Fire Department, Blackhoof Fire Department and the Barnum Fire Department.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Life Link III, and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office also assisted with the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
