Motorcycle crash on Pequaywan Lake Road Saturday night 

Just after 7:15pm, on Saturday July 29, emergency personnel were dispatched to an Apple crash detection report. The location of the crash was on the Pequaywan Lake Rd, north of Duluth. 

As emergency units responded, a motorist called and reported he found a male lying in the ditch from an apparent motorcycle crash. The male’s phone or Apple watch had automatically contacted 911 when it detected the crash. 

The driver and sole occupant of the motorcycle was a 33 year old Hermantown resident.  He was transported to St. Lukes Hospital with life threatening injuries.  

The incident is under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. Alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor to the crash.

Other assisting agencies included the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mayo Ambulance, and Pequaywan Area First Responders.
