Another step forward with solar power for Minnesota Power.

The company celebrated the opening of their Laskin Solar Project in Hoyt Lakes on Friday with a ribbon cutting.

Legislators and utility leaders were on hand.

It’s a 5.6 megawatt array, which will produce enough clean local energy to power about 1100 homes.

There are 14,800 panels, all made at Heliene in Mt. Iron.

And it’s one of three solar investments the utility is making, after approval from the MPUC in 2021.

Another completed project is in the Northland, off Jean Duluth Road.
