Memorial Day: Walz visit Fort Snelling National Cemetery, order flags to fly half-staff

Governor Tim Walz has ordered all United States and Minnesota flags to fly at half-staff at all state buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until noon today, Monday May 29, 2023.

This is in honor of those who have died while serving in the United States military. Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are also encouraged to join in lowering their flags.

This morning, Governor Tim Walz made a stop at Fort Snelling National Cemetery to attend a Memorial Day service. Other top government officials were also in attendant including Senator Amy Klobuchar.

This service happens every year to remember our fallen military heroes including a fly over, a small parade through the crowd and music from the military band.

In a tweet, Walz said – “This Memorial Day, across the nation and in Minnesota, we honor the incredible sacrifice made by our fallen service members. As we work toward peace in our world, let us never forget the freedoms we are so fortunate to have and the cost of attaining them.”
