Investigators will be at Lutsen Resort Lodge next week

Investigators will begin digging through the debris of the Lutsen Resort Lodge starting on Monday, March 11.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety State Fire Marshal has been investigating the incident since a fire destroyed the historic building on February 6.

“Lutsen community members will notice crews coming and going from the fire scene,” said State Fire Marshal Daniel Krier. “We are dedicated to preserving the integrity of the investigation, and we ask people to give us the space we need to complete this work.”

The scene still remains secured by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

The State Fire Marshal will not be providing a timeline for how long the investigation will take.

Back in February, owner Bryce Campbell said they will do everything they can do to keep the existing fireplace stone for the rebuild, that the stone is part of the, “greatness and 140 year history of Lutsen.”
