Construction on Morris Thomas Road begin May 8th

Construction on Morris Thomas road along with necessary detours is scheduled to begin Monday May 8th.

This is to allow for a two-year project to reconstruct the road between Haines road and Piedmont Avenue. The $8.4 million project will include the replacement of watermains beneath it, a new sidewalk on the south side of the road, plus new curbs and gutters.

Signs will be posted directing traffic to use Haines Road and Piedmont Avenue. Property owners will be allowed to drive through the construction area to access their homes for the majority of the project and will be communicated with in advance of any periods when they cannot.

The project is being completed in partnership between St. Louis County Public Works and the City of Duluth. Northland Constructors is the contractor for the project. More information on the project can be found on the St. Louis County website.
