Name of Lake Nebagamon drowning victim released

Update: The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of the drowning in Lake Nebagamon. Authorities say 74-year-old, George Goetz of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin died last Friday.

Douglas County Sheriff and emergency personnel were called to Lake Nebagamon on Friday for a report of an adult who was swimming being observed going under the water at approximately 2:15 p.m.

According to Sheriff Matt Izzard, the search was temporarily stopped due to lightning in the area, and crews recovered the body of George Goetz around 4:30 p.m..

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, their regional dive team, along with the Wisconsin DNR and Lake Nebagamon Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
