Superior, Eveleth-Gilbert, and Northwestern softball collect dominant wins

The first pitch on Northland softball seasons were thrown on Monday evening.

In Superior the Spartans were coming off a 21-2 season and a regional final finish, hosting Cloquet on Monday.

Kaylee Backer would get the Spartans first hit of the game, they would score 10 runs in the first inning.

Winning the game by the final of 16-1.

It was the first meeting between Esko and Eveleth-Gilbert, after the Golden Bears earned the section quarterfinal upset last season.

Emily Kemp earned the first RBI of the game for the Golden Bears.

As Eveleth-Gilbert won the game by the final of 13-9.

Fighting all the way to the sectional finals last season, Northwestern was against Duluth East in their first match.

The Tigers would be able to jump out to an early lead and not look back winning 11-2.
