The Great Lakes Aquarium is hosting a new art exhibit titled “Deep Sea Dances”

The exhibit features several vibrant paintings of jellyfish, octopus and other deep sea creatures.

Naomi Christenson, the Duluth artist behind the exhibit, described the projects influence.

“I’ve always been inspired by deep sea creatures–especially invertebrate life,” explained Christenson. “Both their colors, visually, and their patterns really excite the visual artist in me and their movement really inspires the dancer in me, so, with these paintings I was really trying to capture the colors, the patterns, but also some of the dance-y movements that they make.”

Deep Sea Dances will be on display at the Aquarium through May 31.
