Former Hermantown slugger, and College of Saint Scholastica (CSS) baseball Hall of Famer, Brandon Swartz is now the interim head coach of his alma mater.

Swartz took over for John Baggs and Corey Kemp, with Swartz eager to use what he’s learned and improve on it this season.

"Every coach looks at things from a different perspective and takes the things they really appreciate about coaches that they have had an oppurtunity to coach with in the past. Maintains those systems, those practices, and looks to build on those things. For us this program will always be about our values, we are always looking for new ways and creative ways to get better individually and as a collective group," said head coach Swartz.

Having their first ever Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) games under their belts last weekend, the Saints are ready to get into the full swing of the season, with their home opener this weekend.

"It seems like a lot better competition. I definetly noticed even through our first game the guys we are playing are better. It seems like most of our games we are going to have to show up, we have to play our best ball in order to get wins. I’m super excited to play, you cant say much about senior year but I have been looking forward to it for four years," added CSS senior Cody Venske.

The Saints are set to host bethel for a MIAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Wade Stadium.
