On Thursday, March 17, 2022, people celebrated all things green for St. Patrick’s Day! From dancing, food, green beer, and much more. Families were out celebrating, and for some kids, the celebration included making a trap for a special someone.

"Yesterday, my brother and I set up like a leprechaun trap to try and catch a leprechaun. That’s an exciting thing to do on St. Patrick’s Day," said Minneapolis resident, Brennan Toed.

Image St. Patrick’s Day, this time a couple of years ago, is difficult because the celebration was cut short. Two years ago today, Minnesota bars and restaurants closed at 5 p.m., as the covid-19 pandemic took the world by storm.

One bar owner described that day being rough as a whole. "It was the beginning of the pandemic, and no one really knew how long it was going to last and what was going to go on with it, said Maxim. So, kind of a lot of uncertainties about what was coming down the pipeline." Mike Maxim is the owner of Dubhlinn Brew Pub.

One couple who was at Dubhlinn this time, two years ago, remembers ordering food and headed to Canal Park to enjoy it. Today was a complete 360 from 2020. "To come here and actually enjoy and be with people and everything, says Jaclyn Leland. It is just a different vibe, so much better being around people, and the live music is just amazing compared to what that experience was."

In comparison to this time last year, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations were in full effect with new memories hopefully being made.
