Even if you head out the door to dry conditions, you’ll want an umbrella or rain coat on hand today. Moderate rain takes over the Northland from the south through the morning, and rain may be heavy at times. It’s also windy with an east wind around 20 mph. Temps start very mild with many in the 50s, but we won’t warm up much today with highs staying in mid-50s to low 60s inland and 40s near Lake Superior.

Thunderstorms are also possible today, mostly south of Duluth in east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Some storms may produce small hail and gusty winds, but severe storm potential stays to our south. The bulk of the rain will have fallen by 10 pm, then scattered showers may linger tonight into Wednesday morning. Rain amounts will generally range from near 0.25″ along the Canadian border to between 0.5″ and 1″ from the Twin Ports and south with locally higher amounts possible.

A breezy east wind is still with us overnight and lows will mostly be in the 40s. Areas of dense fog may develop tonight and linger for the Wednesday morning commute. Highs will climb into the 60s for inland areas tomorrow, but an east wind around 15 mph will keep temps in the 40s immediately near Lake Superior and a high near 50 at Duluth International Airport.

Thursday is sunny with a breezy east wind once more allowing for a spread in temps from 40s along the shorelines to mid-60s in north central Minnesota. Friday brings a wind shift that will give the Twin Ports a shot at low 60s, but it’ll also come with scattered showers and thunderstorms. The weekend is shaping up to feature more 60s and even some 70s with low rain chances hanging around.
