Justin Liles: Light snow for some, cold coming

February 14th: Light snow and cold

Light snow and cold

An area of low pressure will be passing to our south Wednesday night into Thursday. Light snow in east-central Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin has been falling since this afternoon. The light snow passing through the southern part of our viewing area in Wisconsin could see the most snow.

Accumulating snow is likely with totals in southern Sawyer and Price County ranging from 1-3” by tomorrow morning. Following the snow look for winds to pick up out of the northwest. This is going to drop daytime highs in the in the upper teens and twenties by some ten degrees. This means it will likely feel as if we were in the single digits and teens. By Friday our highs will be in the teens.

These colder conditions heading into the weekend may looks to possibly create some light snow along the south shore, especially Thursday. However, even though winds remain breezy they switch to the west killing the chance for lake effect to continue. Dry conditions and a warming trend look to return next week.
