Justin Liles: Another mild end to the week

March 14: Cool lake wind today

Daily forecast from the Storm Track Weather team

Wind off the lake made shoreline communities much cooler than farther inland today. Winds will be shifting to the northwest by early morning will bring warmer conditions by the lake Friday. Increasing wind speed will lead to dry condition Friday. This will increase the fire danger from the Twin Ports southward during the day as humidity levels will be low too. The area of greatest concern is the Brainerd Lakes area east through the I-35 corridor and St. Croix River Valley. Mild conditions are expected all over Friday ahead of a strong clipper that will impact area Friday evening into Saturday.

Temperatures will be cooling over the next few days as the clipper system brings a chance for light snow or rain Friday night becoming all snow Saturday. Rain changing to snow is expected across the Arrowhead, Iron Range and along the International Border Friday evening into Saturday. Lake effect snow will be possible along the South Shore Sunday into Monday and additional snowfall will occur there. When it comes to snow fall totals as much as 1-2″ may fall in northern Lake and Cook Counties. The U.P. of Michigan may see as much as 3-6″ of new snow.
