Brandon Weatherz: Warm Wednesday with a few afternoon storms

April 10: Warm Wednesday with a few afternoon storms

Daily forecast from the Storm Track Weather team

Our Wednesday starts with patchy fog, notably along the I-35 corridor. Areas of frost are also found in the cool spots with temps beginning in 20s along the Iron Range, but Duluth starts above freezing and Ashland begins the day in the 40s. It’ll shape up to be another warm day with highs in low to upper 60s under partly cloudy skies. We’ll look to North Central Minnesota this afternoon for showers and isolated thunderstorms that fill out the Arrowhead and approach the Twin Ports by 7 pm. No severe storms are expected, but the strongest storms may produce small hail and wind gusts up to 40 mph.

Areas of showers thin out overnight, then become more numerous again as we warm up Thursday afternoon. Thursday’s non-severe storm potential will be in northwest Wisconsin. Highs get knocked down a peg in the 50s, but will still be above average. Showers taper off Thursday night. After that, we’ll have a rather dry weekend with a few showers possible for northern Minnesota into the South Shore Saturday and Saturday night.

Friday features low to upper 50s. By Saturday, highs will be well into the 60s for many. The exception will be Lake Superior’s shoreline communities due to an east wind. Sunday will see inland areas into 60s to low 70s, and a wind shift to NNW should allow the warmth to reach the Twin Ports. Above average temps stick around to start the new workweek, then a system could bring beneficial moisture on Tuesday.
