Afternoon highs Monday will climb to the upper eighties south of the Twin Ports, with some locations reaching 90 degrees. Areas close to Lake Superior will be in the seventies, while the Iron Range reaches the low eighties.

Scattered showers are expected Monday afternoon, lasting into the evening as a slow-moving cold front enters the region. Strong thunderstorms are possible in the evening, and we could see some large hail form.

Independence Day will begin with clear skies, but that will not last long. Rain chances return at around 11 am, with showers becoming widespread in the afternoon. This will likely continue through the night and into Wednesday.

Northern Wisconsin, the U.P., and Carlton, Pine, and Aitkin Counties, as well as portions of Itasca, St. Louis, and Lake Counties, are all under a slight risk for severe weather Tuesday afternoon into the evening. Scattered severe thunderstorms could form during this time. Hail up to 1.75″, damaging winds, and a tornado or two are all in the realm of possibility.
