Sabrina Ullman: Chilly conditions tonight, Monday

Evening forecast November 26

Chilly conditions follow this round of snow.

Tonight will be cloudy with light snow ending by midnight for most of the area. The exception will be the South Shore, where lake-effect snow is likely through Monday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Iron County until 6 am Tuesday as 1-3 inches of lake-effect snow is likely to accumulate. Gogebic and Ontonagon Counties are under a Winter Storm Warning until then as 3-6 inches of snow is likely. Localized higher amounts are possible for the U.P.

The same strong, northwest winds that are causing the lake-effect snow will also result in wind chill values dropping significantly.

Overnight lows will be in the single digits to low teens, but the wind chills will be in the negative single digits as kids head to the bus stop Monday morning.

Areas along the Iron Range and further north will continue having wind chills below zero throughout the day. Other areas will have wind chill values in the positive single digits in the afternoon.

Afternoon highs will be in the teens to around 20 degrees Monday, which will be the coldest day this week. We warm to the upper 20s Tuesday, and starting Wednesday, there will be a few afternoon highs in the low 40s for the southern part of the Northland.
