Today will be partly sunny with afternoon highs in the low thirties. An east wind of 5-10 mph will have gusts up to 15 mph. Patchy fog is likely in the morning, clearing by noon.

Light snow with freezing drizzle is possible late tonight. Snow will continue into Saturday. The snowfall will remain decently light, with total accumulations mostly under an inch. The area stretching from the Twin Ports up the North Shore into the Arrowhead will have closer to two inches. The eastern portion of Sawyer and Ashland counties and areas east will have 1-3 inches.

Afternoon highs Saturday will be close to freezing. Temperatures will be pretty much the same for the next several days.

We take a break from precipitation Sunday, Monday, and most of Tuesday. Then, things get interesting. A low-pressure system is heading our way, bringing a winter storm with moderate impacts likely for portions of the Northland. Starting Tuesday night, snow will move in from the west, becoming widespread and heavier Wednesday. This will continue into Thursday, potentially into Friday.

Snowfall amounts are uncertain at this time, but models are in agreement on Wednesday having travel impacts with moderate to heavy snow most of the day. With temperatures warming in the afternoon, Pine County and areas east could have rain sneak in. Overall, the heaviest snowfall is expected for the North Shore.
