Sabrina Ullman: Freezing rain possible today

Christmas Day forecast

Rain is likely throughout the day, and we could see freezing rain mix in midday.

Rain will continue on and off throughout the day. There is potential for freezing rain to mix in for areas in northern Minnesota.

Due to the risk of ice accumulation, a Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from noon today until noon Tuesday for Koochiching, Itasca, and Cook Counties as well as the northern portion of St. Louis and Lake Counties.

We already set a few record highs for today, but temperatures will drop a few degrees by the afternoon as a cold front passes through the region. Northeast winds will pick up, with winds of 20-25 mph this afternoon becoming closer to 30 mph overnight.
