Sabrina Ullman: A few flurries this afternoon

Today will be cloudy with afternoon flurries.

Today will be cloudy with a light east wind of 5-10 mph. Areas stretching from International Falls to Bemidji and northward will only reach the upper teens this afternoon. The rest of the area will have highs in the 20s to around 30 degrees.

Tonight will have some overnight lows dropping to the single digits in Lake of the Woods, Beltrami, and northern Koochiching Counties. The Iron Range and areas near Aitkin and Brainerd will drop to the teens, while the rest of the Northland will stay in the 20s.

There are a couple of rounds of snow ahead, but accumulations will be light. The first starts this afternoon. From noon today to noon Wednesday, there will be on and off flurries and light snow showers with accumulations at around an inch total.

Snow accumulations will be light over the next few days (WDIO).

Another round is likely Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning. This will also have light snow accumulations but will usher in strong northerly winds and much cooler temperatures. By the end of the week, we will have afternoon highs in the single digits and subzero temperatures overnight.

A 50 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 23. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tuesday

A 40 percent chance of snow, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. Blustery, with a north wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday

A 30 percent chance of snow after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 24. North wind around 5 mph becoming east in the afternoon.

Thursday

Snow likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy, with a high near 21. Blustery, with a northeast wind 10 to 15 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon.

Friday

A slight chance of snow after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 13. Blustery, with a north wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday

A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 8. Blustery, with a north wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
