Brandon Weatherz: Pleasant stretch carries into the weekend

November 3: Pleasant stretch carries into the weekend

Daily forecast from the Storm Track Weather Team

Our Friday begins with temps ranging from mid-20s to low 30s and a patchwork of clouds. A cold front sliding south of the Canadian border through the morning will try and stir up a passing flurry. Sunshine takes over in the afternoon as a high pressure system builds into the region from the west. Temps will be similar to yesterday, topping off in mid-30s to low 40s looking from north to south across the Northland.

The area of high pressure will keep skies mostly clear and winds light overnight, which are the ingredients for temps to fall lower than expected. Most areas will bottom out in the teens, and typical cool pockets may see single digits. This will allow for a cold start to the Minnesota firearms deer season, so hunters will want to dress warm!

Saturday afternoon then sees us back in mid-30s to low 40s. Sunshine will gradually give way to increasing clouds from the northwest. Light snow or wintry mix showers will try to reach along the international border and into the Arrowhead Saturday afternoon into the overnight hours. Saturday night will be milder with lows in mid-20s to low 30s. As Daylight Saving Time ends, clocks will need to be adjusted an hour earlier.

Sunday may be a bit wet at the deer stand as scattered rain showers fill out the Northland from the west through the morning, then periods of rain linger into Monday. Warmer air will keep rain as the dominant precipitation type with highs mostly in the 40s Sunday and lows staying above freezing Sunday night. Rain may transition to snow in far northern Minnesota on Monday before that system exits the region. Tuesday night into Wednesday will bring another round of precipitation to the region, and that one may have more snow involved.
