Brandon Weatherz: Mild and dry stretch continues

The dry and mild stretch continues the next few days with the main contender being winds. A south southwest wind today will be strongest for Bayfield, Ashland, and Iron Co. where gusts of 35-45 mph are possible. These areas may need a Wind Advisory if gusts surpass 45 mph. Our Tuesday is otherwise mostly cloudy and warm. Temps begin mostly in the 40s, then top off in low to upper 50s looking from north to south.

Winds shift from south to northwest tonight as a weak cold front passes. Lows range from upper 20s to mid-30s under partly cloudy skies. High pressure briefly passes tomorrow with lighter winds and sunshine. It’ll be a touch cooler than today, but still mild with highs in upper 40s to mid-50s. Another pair of fronts will bring temperature swings Wednesday night and Thursday. Lows Thursday morning will be mild in mid-30s to low 40s, then we warm into 50s one last time before colder air takes over.

International Falls will see the front first and stay in the low 40s on Thursday, but areas that see the front last like Siren and Ashland will approach 60. Winds will be strong shifting from southwest to northwest. We look behind the front from the Canadian border into the Arrowhead for rain and snow showers Thursday afternoon and evening. Friday will be much cooler with morning temps in the 20s and highs in mid-30s to low 40s. A quiet and more seasonable stretch of weather is expected to take us through the weekend.
