Brandon Weatherz: Tracking rain for your weekend

Our Friday features a mix of clouds and sun and a breezy east wind. Similar to yesterday, you’ll still want a light jacket if you’re spending time near Lake Superior where temps stay in the 40s. Highs elsewhere range from upper 50s across the Iron Range to mid-60s for east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. An east wind will continue to limit the warmth in the Twin Ports and other shoreline communities through the weekend.

We look south of Lake Superior for showers in the late afternoon and evening. Showers become more widespread overnight, and areas of dense fog may set up. Most of the moisture stays south of the Northland until Saturday afternoon and evening. This is when scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms sweep the region from south to north. This rain is nudged north near the Canadian border by Sunday morning. Additional showers are possible Sunday, mostly looking west across north central Minnesota. Rain then becomes more widespread once more Sunday night with more rumbles of thunder possible.
