Justin Liles: Storms possible tonight, heat away from the lake to follow

A few severe storms are possible overnight into early Tuesday morning. The greatest threat will be after 10pm this evening. East central Minnesota and west central Wisconsin have the best chance for strong to severe storms. The main threats will be frequent lightning, large hail, wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph, and torrential rainfall which could lead to localized minor flooding.

Following the overnight mess, dangerous heat returns Tuesday and Wednesday. Heat indices of 90 to 100 degrees across portions of central and east-central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin Tuesday. Wednesday is looking even warmer with heat indices as high as 105 degrees near Siren. Heat Advisories are in effect for Wednesday afternoon including Hinckley, Siren, Spooner, Hayward, and Phillips. Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories are in effect farther south starting Tuesday. Drink plenty of water, even if you’re not thirsty. Make sure to leave nothing of value in the car, especially kid and pets.
