Justin Liles: Periods of more snow all week!

It’s funny when you think about it. As soon as January hit Old Man Winter returned from his vacation. A strong winter system will move north into the Great Lakes tonight. Light snow will continue tonight, spreading across the area through Tuesday morning. Accumulations by Tuesday will be light around the Northland with the bulk of the snow falling along the Northshore. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the North Shore. The North shore could see as much as 3-6” by late Tuesday afternoon.

Winds then increase in the late afternoon and evening, reducing visibility as snow falls. Another system will move in late Wednesday through Friday morning. There is a potential for 4+ across the head of the lake into Bayfield County. Variations in the storm track by the middle of the week could adjust location and amounts. Cold temperatures along with gusty winds are expected this weekend and wind chill values will drop into the -20° to -30° range.
