Justin Liles: Nice this weekend
This weekend is looking great with sunshine and above-average temperatures. In fact, many parts of the region will likely climb into the middle 30s and 40s by Saturday. Cooler weather continues on Sunday for a large portion of the Northland. However, Ashland and Iron Counties will have a chance for lake-effect as cold northerly winds occur.
This lake effect is forecast to start as freezing drizzle, potentially resulting in light ice accumulations. This freezing drizzle will likely transition to snow by the afternoon, producing light snow accumulations. If you have travel plans near the South Shore on Sunday, allow for extra time and use reduced speed on snow and/or ice covered roads. The rest of the region will likely see the return of snow Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to be cooler too.
