Justin Liles: More rain and some snow possible

October 26th: Rain, Fog, Wind and Snow

Rain, Fog, Wind and Snow

A fall system will continue to bring rain to the region tonight with the rain mixing with or changing over to snow over western and northern portions of the Northland tonight into Friday. Most of the precipitation will occur tonight into Friday morning over far northern Minnesota. Current probabilities for 1” or more of snow are greatest over Koochiching County. There is a smaller chance for higher amounts if a switch to colder temperatures occurs faster.

Colder temperatures will also move in on Friday and they will last into next week. We are not anticipating significant snowfall over the Northland.

Winds will pick up some steam Friday too as northwesterly winds take over. With northwest winds and colder temperatures lake effect snow is possible along areas of the south shore. This cold air will last through the weekend and into next week. If you are going to be out and about through the weekend and into the Halloween holiday. Make sure to break out the hats, gloves and warmer jackets.
