A very warm airmass is expected to settle over the Northland this Labor Day weekend. This will lead to high temps reaching into the 80s and 90s across the region. Sunday and Monday are expected to be the warmest days over the holiday weekend, with record breaking high temps forecasted. Make sure to stay hydrated, check vehicles for children and/or pets, and limit prolonged exertion during peak heating.

A combination of hot, dry, and windy conditions through Labor Day Weekend could lead to the rapid spread of fires. Monday is forecasted to be the driest day this holiday weekend. The area of greatest concern today is in northeast Minnesota. If traveling south to the state fair, please note heat indices will likely be over 100°F. Some storms and cooler weather look to return by the middle of next week.
