Justin Liles: Cold tonight, warming up again

December 18th: Colder Tonight

Colder Tonight

Heading into tonight our temperatures will likely be the coldest this week. Clear skies and radiational cooling will allow temperatures to drop significantly. Tuesday morning will be much cooler. Temperatures will begin to warm up this week again as another ridge of warm air build back into the region.

Temperatures are expected to climb 5°-10° above normal through the middle of the week. By the time we get to the end of the weekend and into the weekend. Thermometers are likely going to be 10°-15° above normal. Currently the models agree of a low passing near us Sunday into Monday. This is Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!

This system will have warm air and not cold air. Therefore, we are looking at more of a rainy Christmas than a snowy one. Travel over the holiday will likely be rain and not snow. A brown Christmas is looking more and more likely.
