Justin Liles: Another spring mess coming!

A ridge of warmer and drier air moved back into the region today. It’s still nice to know how warm the sun feels despite our recent bout with heavy snow. Our attention will shift tomorrow to an approaching low coming in from the west. Winds will pick up ahead of our next weather maker. This next spring storm will impact the Northland Wednesday through late week bringing a chance for snow, freezing rain, rain, and a few thunderstorms.

There is increasing confidence the storm will be impactful but there are questions on how much snow or ice will occur. Heavy rain is also possible, especially over from east-central Minnesota into northwest Wisconsin. This could potentially lead to additional flooding problems as heavy rains may speed up the melt for the nearly two feet of snow that just fell to start the workweek. This storm could impact travel around the region.

As now, the threat for increased freezing rain looks to be near the head of the lake Wednesday night into Thursday before it turns over into all snow late Thursday into Friday. Travel as well as school delays may come Friday morning. Stay tuned. More light snow returns late in the weekend and we could see on and off again snow through the middle of next week.
