Our Tuesday is quiet and a touch warmer with a mix of clouds and sun. Highs in the Northland range from near 70 north to near 80 south. Rain chances return from the west tonight and exit the region to the southeast Wednesday night.

North central Minnesota will be the first to see shower and thunderstorm chances late this evening. That round sweeps northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin overnight and through Wednesday morning. These storms are not expected to be severe, but heavy downpours and frequent lightning are possible.

There should be a break from the rain after that morning round, then we look in north central Minnesota Wednesday afternoon near a cold front for the redevelopment of thunderstorms. These storms may produce large hail and damaging winds. That potential marches east toward the Twin Ports and across northwest Wisconsin through the evening. A stray tornado can’t be ruled out south of Lake Superior.

Thursday features a breezy north wind and a stray shower lingering on the backside of the system bringing Wednesday’s storms. Temps trend near to above average starting Friday with a warming trend taking us through the start of next week. A low chance for showers and thunderstorms is with us both Saturday and Sunday.
