Areas of freezing drizzle overnight have led to another morning commute with icy patches to be mindful of. Additional times of freezing drizzle are possible today, with the greatest chance for persistent drizzle and ice accumulation up to one tenth of an inch along the North Shore. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 9 pm here. Light snow accumulation under an inch is also possible. It’s otherwise a gray day with overcast skies and areas of fog proving to be stubborn. Keep headlights on and be prepared to drive slowly in poor visibility. Temperatures begin mild in mid and upper 20s, then highs will be a few degrees higher in low 30s.

It’ll be another cloudy and mild night with lows mostly in the mid-20s. Scattered snow showers fill out east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin by the early morning. Accumulation will stay under an inch, but it should still be enough for slick travel. A second area of snow sweeps north central Minnesota in the afternoon and moves east across the Arrowhead through the evening and overnight, bringing more light accumulation. Thursday will be cloudy and a touch cooler with a breezy northwest wind. Highs range from upper teens to mid-20s. Additional snow will focus on the South Shore where localized accumulation of 1-2” is possible.

High pressure brings sunshine on Friday with temps remaining seasonable. We trend warmer through a relatively quiet weekend.
