The cold and breezy conditions have arrived! Duluth’s high temp for the day was set around midnight at 56. Temperatures tumble this morning, then hold steady in low to mid 40s through the afternoon. Winds sustained 10 to 20 mph have begun this morning, and a steady north wind will persist through the day. Skies are mostly cloudy overall with a few sprinkles. Sprinkles gradually mix with flurries. This happens for northern communities this morning, then for the Head of Lake Superior this evening. The South Shore will be the focus for lingering flurries overnight. Friday morning will feature flurries gradually transitioning to sprinkles as they exit eastward along the South Shore.
The cold peaks tonight into tomorrow morning with lows in mid-20s to low 30s. Expect a frigid bus stop Friday morning, then highs stay in the mid-40s. Clouds give way to sunshine from west to east through the day. It’s shaping up to be a beautiful fall weekend with seasonable conditions returning on Saturday under mostly sunny skies.
