Enjoy one more mild day before a passing cold front paves the way for a much cooler end to the week. Highs today reach mid-60s to low 70s. Our Wednesday otherwise features a cloudy start, breaks of sun in the afternoon, then increasing clouds in the evening as a cold front approaches. This brings scattered showers this evening and overnight. More than anything, the front opens the gates to frigid air that will be carried in on a blustery north wind. Lows tonight gradually fall to mid-40s to mid-30s, then highs stay in low to upper 40s looking north to south on Thursday.

Lake effect rain showers will focus along Lake Superior’s South Shore through the day. Lake effect chances linger for South Shore communities Thursday night into Friday morning with snow mixing in. Friday is another cool day with highs in the 40s, but high pressure moving in from the west brings sunshine. We will then have a quiet and seasonable weekend.
