Brandon Weatherz: Active weather week ahead
An active weather week lies ahead. Our Monday features an early morning round of snow that may have brought a quick dusting to northern roads. Strong west northwest winds overnight have spilled into this morning, keeping a Wind Advisory in effect for the North Shore of Lake and Cook Co. until 8 am. Winds here may gust as high as 50 mph. Winds improve through the morning and into the afternoon. Highs range from mid-30s to low 40s under a mix of clouds and sun.
A round of light snow will try and sweep northern Minnesota tonight. Widespread showers arrive Tuesday afternoon. This begins a wet stretch with occasional showers possible into Thursday. A more impactful weather system will arrive Thursday into Friday with rain changing to snow from the northwest. Accumulating snow, ice, and high winds will bring the potential for difficult travel on Friday.
