Brandon Weatherz: Heat lingers today

A cold front pushes south of the Northland today, but don’t expect relief from the heat just yet. Highs will still range from near 80 by the Canadian border to near 90 from Brainerd to Siren. Our Thursday is generally dry with southern parts of the Northland having a low chance for a thunderstorm on the backside of the front. It will still be muggy in the morning with dew points in mid-60s to low 70s for many, but drier air will gradually settle in from the north. Temps bottom out in low 50s to low 60s overnight with clear skies.

Highs on Friday will still manage upper 70s to mid 80s for inland areas while a breezy east wind keeps shorelines cooler. A lighter east wind lingers Saturday while highs in upper 70s to low 80s continue out of the reach of the lake. Rain chances are on track to return Saturday night and linger Sunday. Highs are knocked back into 70s on Sunday, and we’ll stay there through the start of next week. A drier stretch returns Monday and continues Tuesday, then Wednesday brings a chance for showers and thunderstorms.
