We’ll feel quite the weather whiplash from early Friday morning to Saturday afternoon. Temps start off mostly in the 40s today with some areas even in upper 30s. A south southwest wind pushes temps into mid-70s to low 80s this afternoon. Lows tonight will be much milder staying mostly in the 60s. The heat and mugginess peaks on Saturday with highs in mid-80s to mid-90s and dew points in mid-60s to low 70s. A cold front passes Saturday night to knock highs down to low 70s to low 80s on Sunday. We should stay dry through the weekend for your outdoor plans.

Wildfire smoke is still out there today with reduced visibilities, a strong smell, and air quality that is unhealthy for sensitive groups. Minnesota’s Air Quality Alert goes until 11 pm Friday, and Wisconsin’s Alert lasts through the weekend until 6 am Monday. Smoke will gradually exit the region to the north Friday and Friday night thanks to southerly winds, but a wind shift Saturday night may bring another surge of smoke from the west.
