Sabrina Ullman: Heavy snow, gusty winds overnight

March 24: Slick conditions by the evening

Snow will become widespread by this afternoon, with heavy snowfall overnight.

This morning began with light, fluffy snow that gradually turned into the wet, heavy type that will not be enjoyable to shovel. The wet, heavy snow will continue through the night with snowfall rates continuing to increase. Winds will strengthen to 20-25 mph. The worst travel conditions will be late tonight into early Monday morning.

The bulk of snow accumulation for northwestern Wisconsin will be before sunrise Monday. The precipitation type will change to rain sometime Monday morning in that area while areas in northern Minnesota continue seeing snow. Mixed precipitation is possible near the head of the lake and the North Shore, with freezing rain along the rain/snow line.

Snow will continue through Tuesday but become lighter and easier to manage. Winds will shift direction Tuesday but stay strong.
