Justin Liles: Weather pattern is set to change

All of this nice weather is going to be ending soon. A cold front is set to arrive to our western viewing are tonight. The front will slowly work its way through the region Thursday and generate some light rain by the afternoon hours. There is a threat for thunderstorms in northwestern Wisconsin and parts of the north shore Thursday night. Cold air returns behind this front and some light snow is possible in our west-northwest viewing area.

This cold air will interact with a low on Saturday and some snowfall is now again showing up for the U.P. of Michigan. As much as 1-3” of snow is possible for the north shore. The Snow Belt may see more as areas east of Ashland could see 3-6” or more. Our pattern will likely change and become more seasonal this weekend. Next week we see chances of rain and snow with the later more likely by the end of the week.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 52. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Thursday: A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly after 5pm. increasing clouds, with a high near 63. South wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Thursday Night: Rain likely early, then possibly a thunderstorm between 10pm and 1am, then a chance of rain after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 35. Breezy, with a southwest wind 5 to 15 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Saturday: A 40 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Northeast wind around 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph

Sunday: A slight chance of rain before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 48. Breezy, with a west wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 42. Northwest wind around 10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

Tuesday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. Breezy, with a southeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
