Our first round of snow will continue to affect the Northland through the early evening and possibly into early Tuesday along the north shore. All eyes then turn to the larger snow maker beginning to our south late Tuesday. A large winter storm is expected to bring significant snow and hazardous winter conditions to the Upper Midwest. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Most of northwestern Wisconsin and a portion of Minnesota will likely receive 12”+ of snowfall. Heavier snowfall will fall through the Minneapolis are to Eau Claire, WI.

If traveling south Wednesday and Thursday to the south this may create some problems. I know the Minnesota girls hockey tournament starts this week so please be prepared if going. The biggest question with this storm is how much snow will fall due to easterly winds and the influence of Lake Superior. An additional 6+ inches or more could fall on top of the already forecast totals. Colder air return for the end of the week with more snow possible late Saturday into Sunday.
