Justin Liles: Autumn temperatures return Wednesday

A few strong to severe storms late this afternoon and evening as a cold front moves through. The strongest storms are expected east of a Siren to Drummond to Ironwood line including Hayward and Park Falls. Storms this afternoon have a chance for being severe with ping-pong sized hail and damaging winds up to 65 mph.

After the storms pass, the air behind the cold front will be much cooler than our recent warmth. Temperatures are set to be near 20° cooler Wednesday than today. This cooler push will really but the Northland in the autumn spirit. Highs the rest of the week and through the weekend will stay in the upper 50s to lower 60s. There is also a chance we will see some frost around many part of our area Thursday morning. Another round of showers and storms is possible Friday and Saturday.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 57. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Friday: A chance of showers after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Saturday: A chance of showers, mainly after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
Sunday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 58. Breezy, with a northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 59. Breezy, with a northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
