Brandon Weatherz: Breezy, cooler and quieter today

Our main weather player today is a cold front moving from northwest to southeast across the Northland through the morning. A few showers will remain possible near the passing front, then spotty showers slide south of the Canadian border in the afternoon. More than anything, it will trigger breezy northwest winds and cool temperatures. Early morning temps are very warm beginning mostly in the 70s, but afternoon highs range from near 70 for the Iron Range to mid-70s in the Twin Ports and low 80s in northwest Wisconsin.

High pressure moves into the region tonight, bringing the ingredients for a refreshingly cool night to have a window open. Lows range from mid-40s to mid-50s. This high continues to be our main influencer on Thursday with abundant sunshine and rather seasonable temps. We dial up the heat Friday as a warm front pushes temps into the 80s for all but the North Shore. The cold front that follows will bring a chance for showers and thunderstorms Friday night and Saturday. The Twin Ports is on the northern edge of rain chances during the day Saturday. We gradually dry out Sunday morning with a few showers lingering in northern Wisconsin. Heavy rain will be possible in these weekend showers.
