Ticker – Minnesota National Guard prepare for the Middle East

Soldiers from the Minnesota National Guard are getting ready to serve in the Middle East. More than 550 soldiers with the 34th infantry division “Red Bulls” will deploy in early February as part of “Operation Spartan Shield.”

It will be an ongoing mission where US troops work with what the National Guard calls “several other like-minded nations in the middle east,” including Kuwait.

They’re expected to come home next December. Today the guard is hosting a “family preparation academy” in Minneapolis for the deploying soldiers and their families.
