The University of Wisconsin-Superior women’s soccer program hit the field for their first practice of the season on Saturday afternoon.

The team is coming off a successful season, winning the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) regular season and tournament championships in back-to-back years.

“We are constantly trying to find ways to get better. So we’re looking at ways to tweak our training environment, to ensure that we’re creating an intensity when we train. Also establish an identity when we are on the pitch, we’re really looking at deepening our understanding of the system we’ve been playing and trying to play that at a higher level,” said head coach Allison DeGroot.

“We are trying to also implement a lot more interchanging movements within our players. So we’re really excited about creating a purpose that goes beyond winning, making sure our players are better people and better soccer players,” concluded DeGroot.

The women’s team also opens up their year with two exhibition matches at home, the first of which against Minnesota Crookston on August 25th, at 11:00 am.
