UWS softball sweeps Crown in long awaited home opener

Over seven weeks into their season the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) softball team finally hosted their home opener at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex in Superior Tuesday.

The Yellowjackets earned the doubleheader sweep downing Crown College 4-1 then 11-2.

In game one pitcher Tayler Kraemer threw 11 strikeouts for UWS while Norah Schmitz put up three RBI, three hits and one run. In game two MyKenzie Leccia led UWS with two runs, two hits, and two RBI.

UWS improves to 21-5 overall and 11-1 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play. Next they’re set to visit Northwestern for a doubleheader in St. Paul Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
