UWS softball set to take on Central College in first round of NCAA tournament

UWS softball punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament this past weekend, and on Monday it was revealed who they’d match up against.

The Yellowjackets will swarm to Pella, Iowa to take on Central College, for just the fourth time in program history.

UWS has never beat Central in their programs history, but anything can happen, especially when the Yellowjackets are as hot as they are right now.

UWS swept their way through the UMAC tournament and finished it off with a walkoff ground rule double from MyKenzie Leccia, who also claimed the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award.

UWS is also winners in nine of their last 12 contests, and are the regional’s number four seed.

In addition to the Yellowjackets and Central, UW-Whitewater and Bethel are also competing in the regional.

First pitch from the NCAA tournament is Thursday, May 16th, at noon.
