With the Minnesota and Wisconsin fishing openers already upon us the time is now to get all your water sports gear up to date.

What better way to start that journey than at the Water Sports Gear swap that took place at the Spirit Lake Marina and RV park this past weekend.

“We’re in a perfect place to host this event. We just want to see this this event grow into more, with food vendors and maybe some entertainment. It’s just a great way to get spring off and running and to highlight the Saint Louis River estuary,” said event manager Charlie Stauduhar.

Patrons were able to buy and sell old watersports gear, taking the chance to catch up with fellow enthusiast and see what buried treasures they could find.

“We have some kayaks coming in, a lot of fishing supplies, down riggers, fishing poles, a fairly new boat motor. Just stuff like that, anything that has to do with water sports,” added Stauduhar.

A big part of the occasion was also to restore, protect and enhance the local wildlife with twenty percent of all sales going to a great organization.

“The whole event is benefiting the Saint Louis River Alliance and all the work they do on the Saint Louis River estuary here where Spirit Lake Marina is located, a great place to witness the hard work the Saint Louis River Alliance puts into the estuary,” concluded Stauduhar.
