UMD women’s hockey’s MacLeod, Gascon earn WCHA weekly honors

A pair of University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey players earned Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) honors on Monday.

Hailey MacLeod was named WCHA Goaltender of the Week, while fellow netminder Ève Gascon was named WCHA Rookie of the Week.

MacLeod earned her fifth shutout of the season with a 39 save effort against St. Cloud State University on Friday. The sophomore now leads the NCAA with a .958 saves percentage.

Gascon tied a UMD program record for most shutouts by a rookie when she earned her fifth of the season Saturday against the Huskies. She was also named WCHA Rookie of the Week last week.

The eighth ranked Bulldogs close out their regular season visiting the fourth ranked Gophers this weekend.
