UMD women’s hockey collect series opening win over St. Cloud

The No.7 University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team opened their round one WCHA playoff series against No.12 St. Cloud State with a 1-0 victory.

This years series marked the third time the two hockey clubs have faced each other in the opening round of the playoffs.

The game was a goalie showcase between former Bulldog JoJo Chobak and Emma Soderberg.

With Soderberg pitching another shutout this season, ammasing 23 saves in the game.

The lone goal of the game came on the powerplay with only 3:34 left in the third period by Maggie Flaherty.

UMD now has a chance to sweep the best of three series tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
